Te Au is the National Māori Suicide Prevention Centre of Aotearoa.  Our mission is to support Māori individuals, whānau, iwi, hapū and communities to unleash their full potential and have the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes.  Here we will showcase the initiatives supported by Te Au and the Māori Suicide Prevention Fund.

Meet THE TEAM

Te Au is the National Māori Suicide Prevention Centre of Aotearoa. We are focussed on promoting hauora within Māori whānau hapū and iwi, and strengthening the Māori centred approach to suicide prevention.

Waka Hourua

Waka Hourua is the Māori and Pasifika National Suicide Prevention Programme. The goal of Waka Hourua is to build the capacity of Māori whānau, hapū, iwi, Pasifika families and communities to prevent suicide.

Te Au is a working group within Te Rau Ora (originally Te Rau Matatini).  Te Rau Ora is New Zealand’s indigenous Māori organisation providing a range of local and national programmes to improve Māori Health. We have changed our name but not our passion nor our commitment – Strengthening Māori Health & Wellbeing is at the core of what we are doing.
